Currently the Google+iPhone tieup has ensured that a number of Google apps are customized for the iPhone platform and special mobile versions now cater to the Jesus phone. Given the iPhone love, Google now holds the biggest share in mobile searches aswell. However with changing times and growing rivalry between Apple and Google, things might change fast.
Apple controls a major share in smartphone sales now, and the iPhone / iPod touch has eaten up the mobile internet market. Realizing the influence of iPhone on mobile internet, Apple is now said to be monetizing the default search engine slot on the iPhone by selling it to Microsoft. If the deal goes through, Bing might well replace Google as the default search engine on the iPhone.
Getting on the iPhone would mean that BING would overnight become the biggest mobile search engine. Something that adds tremendous value to Microsoft in a scenario where mobile computing is booming. Though Apple and Microsoft are no friends, in this case Apple has no presence in the search engine market while Google and Apple are battling it out in the smartphone and mobile advertising market now. Business it is!
